The Goan Community in UAE celebrates its national language (Konkani) every year with a special event. In fact, this event is marked worldwide as the “World Goa Day”, galvanizing the attention of the people who belong to this beautiful part of India and their friends.
The highlight of the event is the performance of traditional songs and folk dances from Goa.
“Consider Travel” was really happy to have the chance of promoting Armenia tourism to the Goan community during this event which took place in Sheraton Abu Dhabi on 21 September 2018.
It was very interesting to witness the co-existence between the traditional Goan culture and the modern music trends, executed by the band specially invited from Goa. This effectively contributes to attracting more people to such an event, especially the young, thus creating an extremely vibrant atmosphere.
It is no secret that music and dance are two elements that come into our mind whenever we think about Goa. The beautiful Goan landscape also pops up into our mind.
On another note, it is worth mentioning the story of an Armenian who contributed to creating the fame of Anjuna Beach in Goa in the 1960s until he passed away in Goa in 2010. This is about Yertward Mazamanian, widely known as “Eight Finger Eddie” (read about him in the Wikipedia here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yertward_Mazamanian)
